i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?
) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .

i havn't been able to keep up with all the discussion in this forum as to why the gb has suddenly decided to implement these changes and perhaps someone has mentioned this already, but to me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.
it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.
i have been involved in the organzation for 40 yrs and i have never seen the level of apathy and disillusionment among those serving in some capacity in this organization.
'The High Cost of Leaving' HAHAHA That just struck me - while the Borg touts the high cost of living, it's really the HIGH COST OF LEAVING - that's why they're amalgamating the book study...
a few weeks ago someone posted a book that seemed very interesting, but i can't seem to find the thread or the book online.. it was a book about reading the bible, but keeping the context of the bible writers views in mind... does anyone know which book i am talking about?.
thanks,.

The Control of Biblical Meaning: Canon As Semiotic Mechanism (Paperback) by George Aichele (Author) - was it this one? Really, there's a ton of them out there. If I remember others, I will post... Another good one is From Jesus to Christianity: How Four Generations of Visionaries & Storytellers Created the New Testament and Christian Faith by L. Michael White ( Paperback - Oct 25, 2005) Them's just for starters!
i only got one verse done... maybe i'll finish it later.
this follows in the spirit of my earlier song 113 parody of "we're jehovah's witnesses" entitled "we're no longer witnesses!
More, more! Eagerly awaiting verse 2! You truly have a gift.
on what basis did god so love the world?.
the world of mankind had been condemned to death by god's curse in eden!.
god viewed mankind as "dust on the scales".
Burn;
I was posting at the same time you were, so didn't get to read your subsequent post, until after I had posted mine. You know, I want to believe all the things you are saying. It is very true that we show our love sometimes most by what we are willing to sacrifice, so, allegorically I agree with just about everything you set out. I just don't take the whole thing literally. We're probably on the same page but can't actually say so in WORDS! Love also cannot be explained in WORDS. GOD IS LOVE - I surely believe that!

Thanks for the read, Burn. I guess it all comes down to whether or not you take the first 11 chapters of Genesis literally or not. If Adam literally existed as God's first creation (in 4026 BC or thereabouts) and brought sin into the world, then all these convoluted explanations are invoked to explain why God had to 'redeem' mankind.
If, on the other hand, the first 11 chapters are all allegorical, (seeing that science is telling us men have been on this planet for a lot longer than 6,000+ years), then Jesus' raison d'etre makes no sense, except also in an allegorical sense. I am of the view that we need Jesus desperately, allegorically. But literally, I don't accept that God had to 'sacrifice' his Son for our sins. That's leftover Judaic baggage, wrapped in a Christian New Testament, probably a Catholic Church construct....
That's just my 2cents. Thanks for the reply.
removing a another meeting.. doing away with door to door and concentrating on business and phone witnessing ( my guess ).
new light.
new something else..

for some of you, seems like you have your routines, family, jobs, etc....and you can plan you day and enjoy it.. for others of us, everyday is a struggle to make a good day happen.
if i don't work on it, i won't have one.
today will be a good day!
Relief from this toothache, hopefully! Otherwise I will have to rendezvous with the dentist....PLEEZE NO!

Burn:
Forgive me...Terry didn't forbid his son to eat of the tree of life; he didn't condemn his own son as a sinner...I think you are deflecting the question. Why don't you answer it, if you have the answer?
the dubs aren't supposed to?.
i remember being told that the book study was a necessary provision.
it was expected that the dubs would make whatever sacrifices were needed to attend.
Like previous posters have said, the gig is up! And the GB know it. And we know that they know it. And more and more of the R&F are waking up to it too...did I say THE GIG IS UP?
